Autumn 1984.

The nuclear winter buried what was left of our world.

Our crew has found refuge on the ocean. But the cold piercing the ship's hull no longer lets us live there.

Only five crew members remain. But we know we are not alone.

Other crews are closing in from afar and will try to destroy the terrain, push us into the water and steal our resources.

It is not too late, but we must act now.

The look of your exalted marble depends on the one you choose.

Possible actions

  • Add a player marble onto your boat.
  • Move one space, to sail your boat or step onto and off your boat. Moving also lets you:
    • Push a player by running into them, in the direction you move.
    • Collect uranium by walking onto a reactor.
    • Remove terrain by ramming it with your boat.
  • Unsink your boat if it capsized, so you can use it again.
  • Place terrain on a space around your marble.
  • Build your reactor on a stack of two tiles surrounded by terrain.
  • Play your exalted marble onto your boat, once you hold 3 uranium marbles.
  • Jump from a reactor onto a player, a boat or a dome with your exalted marble.

Every action costs 1 move, with two exceptions: playing your exalted marble costs 3 uranium marbles instead of a move, and jumping from a reactor costs as many moves as there are spaces between the reactor and the space you land on.

What happens if?

A marble rolls by accident in the ocean?
You are allowed to carefully lift the board to reach for the fallen soldier. His fate hasn't come yet.
I roll two 1s?
A 1 places uranium, and the other die is your action count: here, one action. Two 1s are still doubles, so you add one uranium onto your stable reactor, play your single action, then take an extra turn.
Can I use someone else's boat?
Yes.
I add a marble to my boat while one is already there?
Only when you add a marble to your own boat: the marble already there is kicked off and lost.
You roll a 1 but there is already a uranium on your reactor?
Nothing. The reactor still has only one uranium.
26

How to win

Take control of the territory by building terrain and pushing other players. Place your reactor on top of a solid base, and start generating and collecting uranium. Use your uranium to summon your exalted marble, which is an unstoppable force.

  • ocean board

Goal of the game

Be the last player with a marble in play.

Victory

The winner is the last player

who still has at least one

player marble in play.

25

Sheet 5 · Front · print this side first

End

If all your player marbles are eliminated, you lose the game.

24
4.

Each player adds a player marble to their boat.

5.

The youngest player starts, then the turn passes to the left.

6.

On your turn, roll your dice and use the highest die as your number of actions. If you roll doubles, you get an extra turn.

5 actions

Sheet 5 · Back · other side of the same sheet

Add a player marble

7.

You must always have at least one player marble in play. To start, add a marble onto your boat.

8.

You may have as many player marbles in play at once as you want.

Move your marble

9.

You can now move your boat on the water by as many spaces as your highest die shows.

10
35.

After it lands, the exalted marble returns to your inventory. Adding it to the board again costs another 3 uranium.

Shield with a dome

36.

Before your turn starts, you may place your protection dome on one of your player marbles in play. You cannot move that player marble during your turn, but it is safe.

23

Sheet 6 · Front · print this side first

32.

If it lands on a player marble, that marble is removed from the game.

33.

If it lands on a boat, the boat capsizes and must be refloated before it can be used.

34.

If the exalted marble lands on a protection dome, the dome is shattered along with the marble under it and the terrain.

22
10.

You must build terrain right from the start of the game to move. You cannot live on your boat. If you end your turn on your boat, you lose your marble.

Place terrain

11.

Place terrain on the spaces around you.

12.

Keep an ocean border around the board so boats can sail.

11

Sheet 6 · Back · other side of the same sheet

13.

You can build several levels high, as long as all 6 surrounding spaces already have terrain.

14.

Never trap a boat. It must always have a water path to the edge of the board.

Smash terrain

15.

Each turn, you can smash terrain with your boat.

  • terrain
12
29.

If it is on a reactor that generates uranium, it collects that uranium automatically.

Jump from the reactor

30.

When you start your turn with an exalted marble on a reactor, you can launch from it to crush a player, a boat or a protection dome. The jump can be no longer than your highest die.

31.

If the exalted marble lands on terrain, the terrain is removed.

21

Sheet 7 · Front · print this side first

Place your exalted marble

27.

As soon as you have 3 uranium marbles in your inventory, you can spend them to add your exalted marble onto your boat.

Play your exalted marble

28.

Your exalted marble is special: it cannot be pushed, and it can end its turn on a reactor.

If you move your exalted marble onto a reactor, your turn ends immediately. You must launch from it on your next turn.

20
16.

If a reactor is left with no terrain under it, it is removed from the game and must be placed again.

Build a reactor

17.

Build your reactor as early as you can; it lets you generate the three uranium you need to play your exalted marble.

  • reactor
20.

You may place your reactor only on a stack of two tiles that is fully surrounded by six other terrain tiles.

13

Sheet 7 · Back · other side of the same sheet

18.

If one of your dice shows a 1, add a new uranium marble on your stable reactor.

19.

A reactor without a stable base gets none. A reactor holds only one, and rolling two 1s still adds just one.

14

The Exalted

The exalted catapults itself from a cooling tower and crashes down on enemies, destroys the terrain and shatters their domes.

Its rage is short-lived and intense, it kills instantly any marble it lands on, but on impact, its three uranium cores burn out.

19

Sheet 8 · Front · print this side first

18

Collect uranium

21.

Walk to a reactor to collect uranium.

  • uranium
22.

It is added to your inventory.

  • inventory
23.

Careful: just like with boats, you cannot end your turn on a reactor.

15

Sheet 8 · Back · other side of the same sheet

Push another player

24.

Each player marble you control can push one other marble per turn, in the direction you are moving.

Note: A marble pushed onto a reactor does not overheat.

25.

If several marbles are lined up one behind the other, the effect chains through all of them.

If you have several marbles in play, they can chain their pushes on the same opponent's marble.
